Re: What's your Plein Air kit is like?
I considered charcoal, but in my experience it's a bit of a mess to carry around. Also keeping the art from not smudging is a bit hard, at least for me. Which is a pity, because I do enjoy drawing with it. I've tried the charcoal oil pencils Cretacolor makes (the Nero line) and they are quite good ...

I may go for a dry media era next year? Has anyone have had a dry media kit in the past? Graphite is the old reliable, but I am thinking of trying either conté crayons or color pencils. Pastels may be a bit too messy, and I guess I could use some of those pigment markers faber-castell uses.

Re: Two short stories
When I was a kid I read a compilation of Northwest Smith stories by Catherine Louise Moore. These are pulp (from the actual pulp era, even) stories about a tough space outlaw having adventures in space. Given from the era they are, they tend to go a bit on the cosmic horror side of things, though ...

Re: what's everyone reading?
i'd like to get into vn reading again. i keep telling myself for japanese practice i'll read through the pc-98 'shizuku' as i'm interested in the sort of undefinability of denpa lately. i also downloaded subarashiki hibiki which i'm curious from both a pop culture standpoint and also because i ...

Re: Let's talk about music!
I tried yesterday to listen to an album in bed before sleeping, so I tried to think about something both not very long and instrumental. So I ended listening to all of Jean Michell Jarre's Oxygène in one go.
And I've listened to the album before at work, and you hear part's 2 and 4 a lot. But there ...

Re: (tabletop) miniatures thread
I've been uploading all my plein air photos for a future thread and between the photos I found of my favorite miniatures that I've painted.

Re: What's your Plein Air kit is like?
So while I was thinking about what colors to put in the palette and what to bring I thought I could just merge Zorn and the Velazquez palette. We all know what Zorn is, but the second one is a known limited palette in watercolor: yellow ochre, burnt sienna and ultramarine blue, and even sometimes ...

Re: what's on tv?
I also recently finished Emma: A Victorian Romance . I had a craving to see a maid doing maid things, and didn't expect too much more than that, but I found myself falling for nearly every character here. With a strong focus on class stratification (and the central romance trying to bridge that ...

Re: What's your Plein Air kit is like?
Yeah, you are right. And if you are using a 1 cm flat brush just fine I think Pro Arte makes both a filber and a flat of those sizes that are collapsible and are not very expensive, so may give it a shot. I do have a travel flat, a Casaneo, but I find it's a bit too short. Good for watercolor, will ...
