I just finished Ginga Tokkyuu Milky Subway, sequel to the breakout hit student film Milky Highway. And wow! It blew me away! Easy Top 3 anime of the year, alongside Apocalypse Hotel and CITY, and honestly? It could even be the #1... It's kino.

I like the way they mirror the structure of the student film by breaking what would otherwise be a ~40min OVA into 12 micro-episodes. It uses those transitional breakpoints well, with the Title Card drops and To Be Continueds never failing to season a joke. The grounded dialog style, with characters frequently talking over and past one another, helps increase the density to make the most of the limited runtime. I want to rewatch this one again soon, because I'm sure there were a lot of little details I missed the first time though.

I also recently finished Emma: A Victorian Romance. I had a craving to see a maid doing maid things, and didn't expect too much more than that, but I found myself falling for nearly every character here. With a strong focus on class stratification (and the central romance trying to bridge that), nearly every conversation felt tense and loaded. Each time a new combination of characters would find themselves arranged in a scene, I was holding my breath to see what sort of drama would play out between them. Great stuff.

The "Scribbles" series of artbooks by Kaoru Mori are a delight and pretty cheap, I think you will enjoy them.

im plurbing big time. im asking all my friends shit like "do you think plurb likes Gaming".

also made me go back and confirm that "X-Cops" (x-files season 7 episode 12) might still be my favorite episode of television to ever do it. postmodernism!!!! thee form!!

finished up Wolf Hall: The Mirror and Light. i love so much to watch old english character actors Character Act. every time damian lewis is in something i'm always either seeing Bobby Billions or Brody Homeland doing something in my head so its very funny to see him do henry the 8th stuff the whole time. tremendous lighting, tremendous ending

the only new anime i'm watching this season is "Gnosia". i cant really recommend it unless you like the video game, but at least its casually fairly chill-fun about gender. the ED is one of the most annoying pieces of music i've heard in my life

I just finished this recently too, it was great! I very much enjoyed its Henry VIII. It's nice to see a TV show that doesn't just beat you over the head with itself.

Me and a friend tried to see what's going on in the world of youtube cartoon animation series, so we watched a pilot for hazbin hotel, some episodes of Amazing Digital Circus and pilot for Gaslight District and finding out that Knights of Guinevere is also associated with Glitch Productions and honestly this whole thing with Glitch so far feels really weird where after each pilot they show a ton of merch being sold already for a thing they might not know if it's gonna be liked by anyone? It felt weirdly cynical like there's a certain formula they figured out where the stuff will absolutely blow up at least to a required size...IDK! I'd like to report more when i watch a few digital circus episodes that are left. Gaslight District had awesome animation but don't think i feel it at all.
Also continuing the rewatch of Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam and it sure seems a lot of women are dying because of Jerid!
My roommates are also watching The X-Files and sometimes I join them and that's been a lot of fun, we're on season 2 so far and it feels like it's been getting better with time. We just watched the episode about the sewers sucker that scared the hell out of me when i was a child and was scared to go to a toiler and bath for a week or two and it's quite funny how different my memory perception of that episode is compared to the actual episode I saw now.
