I've been getting into AVIF lately.



It has some of the same issues as webp where support for it is dodgy outside of web browsers, but WOW does it compress better than anything I've ever seen. 296 KB for 8 seconds of dynamic animation is nuts! As a GIF this would be hard to get under 10 MB without obvious artifacting.

when i deleted my decade-year-old tumblr blog i got an archive of it that was 17gb, 5 of which are something around 6,000+ gifs. and also a .bat file my friend wrote me real quick that chooses a random one. let me see here...
